Having a marquee wedding? Then there are a couple of extra things you will need to consider to make sure your caterer is ready to go on the day. Here are the 5 things your caterer needs.
What does you’re caterer need?
1. A catering tent
This is a structure which is attached to your marquee which will house the kitchen for your caterer. It’s important this is kitted out with a level floor, power, lighting and trestle tables. Your caterer will be able to advise how big a space they require to be able to accommodate your menu.
2. Access
They will need to be able to drive their vans and fridge trailers close to your marquee to be able to unload their equipment and ingredients. Kitchen equipment can be very heavy so the closer they can get the better. If you think there may be a problem with access then you will need to discuss this with them prior to booking. They can then arrange a site visit to have a look at the site and advise of the best solution.
3. Water supply
The team will need access to drinking water onsite. This can either be through a hose or bottled water. Their requirements will vary depending on your menu so make sure to ask how much they need prior to the day so you can have this onsite ready.
4. Set-up
Most caterers like to be able to set your wedding breakfast tables with linen, cutlery and crockery the day prior to your wedding. Check with your marquee company that everything will be set up ready for them to do so.
5. Dietary & allergy requirements
It’s crucial that your caterer is aware of your guests dietaries and allergies prior to your wedding day. Most caterers will ask for a list of these a long with a seating plan around 6 weeks prior to your wedding day. This then gives them plenty of time to finalise their orders and make sure they are prepared for service on the day. It’s important to note that your caterer will be unable to accommodate on the day dietary and allergy requirements. This is due to them only being able to bring enough produce to cater for the numbers and guests previously stated.
