Planning a wedding can go from fun and exciting to stress inducing in under a minute. Here’s why planning a wedding feels tough at times and your reminder to give yourself a break.
Too many choices
There are almost too many choices when it comes to choosing your venue, suppliers and what to include in your wedding day. That inevitably makes it tricky to know which direction to take and who to reach out to first. Start by getting clear on your priorities. The atmosphere you want to create and the experience you want your guests to have. Get clear on your style and what makes you, you! Think about how you can bring the elements which are important to you into your wedding. Then you can start thinking about who the best fit will be to help you bring them to life.
People’s expectations and unwanted opinions
Every wedding is different, but not everyone appreciates that. Try your hardest to bat off unwanted opinions and suggestions and focus on staying true to what really matters to the both of you.
Limited information available
Not all suppliers are equally helpful when it comes to giving out information on their pricing and how they work. This can make it near impossible to compare the different options before you decide who to contact. Don’t be afraid to pop them an email or give them a call to ask for more information.
You’ve never done it before
You can’t be expected to know exactly what to do when, when you have never planned a wedding before. So, give yourself a break if you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed and unsure what to do next. Reach out to your suppliers and ask them for their help and advice, I’m sure they will be happy to point you in the right direction.
So next time you put pressure on yourself to know everything, don’t! Instead take five minutes out with a cup of tea and remember that you’ve never done this before and that’s why planning a wedding feels tough at times.
