One of my favourite parts of a wedding day.

Everyone is up partying, the lights are twinkling and I can breathe knowing you’re living your best lives.

Wedding days are a lot of pressure, I feel a huge amount of responsibility to get it right for you (and rightly so that’s what you hire me for) and I’m very aware anything can happen at any point to throw a spanner in the works. So, this is the first time I really allow myself to stand back and pause for a minute to soak it all in.

Seeing you partying, hugging, singing at the top of your lungs is one of the best feelings. Not long to go until I’m onsite with my 2026 couples 🤍

If I was having a marquee for my 2026 wedding I’d do this now

Check your suppliers power requirements and where they need this to be distributed in your marquee, catering tent or outdoors.

Make a note of all your suppliers power requirements (what amp and voltage they need) and send it over to your marquee/generator provider, at the latest, 1 month prior to your wedding.

They need to know this information ahead of set up, so they can ensure the correct cables and sockets are distributed to where they are needed.

You need to allocate 20 minutes for seating guests for your wedding breakfast! If you haven’t done already, go back to your timeline now and do this.

This will help to minimise the risk of your wedding breakfast over running before it’s even started!

Less than 70 guests - reduce by 5 minutes
Closer to 500 guests - add on 10 minutes

I have to conduct a site visit prior to your wedding day. I can’t do my job, to the standard needed without it!

It’s crucial I get to see the site first hand. I need to fully understand the logistics of the space, where everything is going to be positioned and most importantly help identify any areas which might need additional consideration.

It’s also a great opportunity to meet you onsite and discuss timings, decor and styling while we are in situ.
Whether you’re planning a marquee wedding or are celebrating in a venue such as a stately home, a site visit is an absolute must.

Be cautious if your planner or coordinator says they don’t need to conduct a site visit prior to your wedding day.

3 things no one tells you about marquee weddings

3 things no one tells you about marquee weddings

1. If it’s not brought onto site then you don’t have it! You’re normally in the middle of a field with no access to a shop or your office/kitchen/stock room full of stuff so if you don’t bring it onto site you just don’t have it. That means your caterer can’t just whip up an extra 5 vegan meals on the day.

2. It might rain. So you need a good plan B worked out ahead of the day. Don’t just bury a sausage in the garden and hope for the best.

3. There isn’t a sound system built into the marquee. If you want music throughout your wedding and into the evening you’ll need to organise this.

If I was having a marquee for my 2026 wedding here are the 5 things I’d do now

I’d get clear on my budget. I would create a spreadsheet, detail all the payments I’ve committed to and would estimate where I would like to allocate my remaining budget.

I’d get an updated copy of my marquee floor plan. With the correct amount of tables and chairs and all the other fittings I’ve booked detailed (e.g dance floor, stage and bar) so I can start to get plans in place for linen, florals and decor.

I’d get my timeline written down. So I’m clear on what’s happening when and when everything needs to be set up ready by. Which can easily be shared and crossed checked with suppliers.

I’d get the 6 fundamentals in place. I’d make sure I was aware what my plans were when it came to power, water, catering facilities, toilets, lighting and parking.

I’d make sure I had a wet weather plan. That we knew what was going to happen in case it was wet and that suppliers had everything they needed to action this smoothy and quickly on the day.
